Chapter Three: After School Hours

“I will never ever mess with that girl.” Joey said and Jasemine came over and sat with him. “Hey Jaye.”

“Hey.” She smiled. “Veronica lashes out sometimes, I can’t believe she punched that girls’ face in. Good thing Chris’s family’s got a huge trust fund. They about to get sued-“

“…up the ass.” Johnny said, before realizing it was Jasemine who had been talking. He felt hot all of a sudden when she giggled.

                “You’re funny…”

“Johnny.” He blurted out as Amanda was coming over with Victoria.

“I’ve been looking for you Chris K.” Amanda said shaking her head with a smile on her face.

“And what have you been looking for me, for?”

“I wanted to ask you something. So can we talk?” Her smile brightened when her eyes met JC’s, and she blushed. For once, he wasn’t the one being the girl. He waved politely, and she grabbed Chris and went down the hall.

“I like him!” She yelled, then threw her hands over her mouth.

“Uh-oh…” Chris grinned. “I knew that already, but I’m pretty sure he heard you.”

“…Oh…” When she looked up and saw JC looking toward her, she nearly fell. Chris grabbed her.

“Joey?” Jasemine called. “Lo gradico.” A smile formed on her face, and she nodded toward Johnny.

                Conosco quello.”

“What’d she just say?” Lance frowned.

“She likes Johnny.” A girl said passing by, and Jasemine blushed.

“Is this our day or what?” JC laughed.

“I like the direction it’s going in…” Johnny’s confidence and JC’s just hit the ultimate point. “Let’s talk sweetie.” He stared into Jasemine’s eyes.

“A-Alright.” She stuttered happily. He grabbed her hand and walked away.

“Hey JC, she’s all yours.” Chris said backing up. Amanda looked at Chris with an expression that demanded him to stay, but he wasn’t trying to hear it.

“My boys are growing up.” Lance smiled.

“Shut up.” Chris said once he’d made his way over.

“Hey where the hell is Justin?” Victoria asked, finally speaking up.

                “That’s a good question.”

~Meanwhile~

“You can’t suspend her you do realize our Dad’ll take his foot so far up your ass-“ Chris stopped short when he noticed Justin peeping through the window.

“Chris distract him.” Mr. Farris said, and Chris frowned.

“We have business. Veronica…you do it.”

“Alright.” I said getting up, leaving the office. “Justin…may I help you?” I smiled.

                “Are y-you uh…getting suspended?”

“No…actually…it was a defense mechanism. I didn’t do anything wrong in the eyes of the policemen of this fine city. Here let’s walk…I’ll tell you all about it.”

                Aight.”

We headed outside the building and he looked at me, stopping me at the bottom of the stairs.

                “Can I ask you something?”

                “Sure.” I smiled.

“Why do you hide? Why did you at least?”

“Because I knew this would happen. Females cause me so many problems…Justin.” I glanced back into the building to spot Chris, but he was clearly still in the office. Meetings like this lasted, on average, for 2 hours. Then the parents got involved. “Now can I ask you something?”

                “Sure.”

                “Why do you like me?”

                Wh-wh-what?”

                “You just proved it. Why?”

                “I don’t know, you’re different.”

“Common line, not fazed. Give me more.” I moved closer to him, and kept my eyes on his.

“I really…” He sighed, and his lips inched closer to mine. I laughed softly.

                “Really what?”

“Can’t understand it. I just saw you, and…I…” He sighed again and I felt his hand on my hip.

“I like you too, but…you have no idea how to handle me.”

“You don’t know that.” He whispered, and I felt his self-esteem soar.

“But I do know who Justin Timberlake is.”

“Who is he?” He asked, moving a little.

“A cocky bastard,” I began, stepping back, “who likes to get girls to do his dirty work, after he gets them in his dirty draws.” I walked inside the building as Victoria was coming out.

Dudeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee that treat was as harsh as yo boy down there was hard…” She laughed walking past him. “Just so you know…she’s not someone you’d want to mess with.”

He nodded, biting his bottom lip. “You never know Victoria.”

“There’s something I do know.” She said turning around briefly.

                “What’s that?”

“Steven’s a jerk so…You’re taking my ass home.” She laughed, patting her stomach, leaning back a little. “Sweet right?”

“So sweet.” He shook his head.
